½ head cabbage, chopped
6 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
6-7 T. unsalted butter
½ c. heavy cream or whole milk
½ medium onion, chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
6 slices crispy cooked bacon, coarsely chopped
salt and pepper to taste

In a large heavy pot, boil Potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain, add 4 T. butter and cream/milk. Cover pot and let butter melt. In the meantime, melt 2 T. butter in a large saucepan, add onions and cook for a few minutes, then add cabbage and cook until tender, about 10 minutes. At the same time, cook bacon in a skillet until crispy and then chop up. Mash potatoes, add cabbage and onions, mixing them in, and the cooked bacon and mix again.
