Cookie dough
2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 egg
2-3 tsp flavoring (almond or vanilla)
2 1/2-2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt

Icing
4 cups powdered sugar
6 Tbsp milk
6 Tbsp light corn syrup
1 1/2 tsp almond flavoring
food coloring of choice

Cookies
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and flavoring. Sift 2 1/2 cups flour, baking powder and salt. Add little by little to butter mixture. Add additional 1/4 cup flour if dough is too wet. Roll out to 1/4 inch on surface dusted with powdered sugar or flour. Cut with desired cutter and transfer to parchment lined baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until edges just start to brown. Cool on the pan a few minutes and then transfer to wire rack to cool completely before adding icing.

Icing
Whisk ingredients together, adding powdered sugar or milk to consistency desired.
