1 cup of butter, soften
2 cups of white sugar
½ cup of cocoa powder
1 tsp of vanilla extract
4 eggs
1½ cups of all purpose flour
½ tsp of baking powder
½ tsp of salt
½ cup of walnuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease and flour a nine by thirteen inch pan.

Combine the butter, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, eggs, flour, baking powder and salt, mix well.

Spread batter in the prepared pan.

Sprinkle the top with walnut halves if desired.

Bake in preheated oven for20-30 minutes, or until a tooth pick inserted in the center comes out with crumbs, not wet.

Cool on a wire rack.

I use Hershey's Cocoa, try the dark chocolate, very good.

These are great just plain, sometimes I will frost them.
