Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 (14.5 oz) cans of green beans, drained
2 T. butter
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ c. onion, chopped
½ c. chicken broth
¼ c. water
2 T. sugar
½ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. pepper
4 slices bacon

Directions:
Directions:
1 – Prepare the bacon – In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until it is crisp. Remove the bacon from the skillet, crumble it, and set it aside. Keep the bacon fat in the skillet.
2 – Saute the veggies – In the same skillet with the bacon fat, add the butter. Once the butter has melted, add the onions and garlic until onion is translucent and garlic is fragrant about 3 – 4 minutes.
3 – Combine the ingredients – Add the drained green beans to the skillet. Then pour the chicken broth and water. Stir in the sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all the ingredients.
4 – Simmer- Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the skillet with a lid and let simmer for about 25 minutes. This allows the flavors to meld together and the green beans to become tender.
5 – Finish and serve – Once the green beans are tender and the flavors are well combined, remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the crumbled bacon. Transfer the green beans to a serving dish and serve hot as a side with a main course.
