1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. almond extract
3 eggs, room temperature
2 c. flour
¾ c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. salt
1 ½ c. whole buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
1 – Preheat oven to 350.
2- In the bowl of a mixer, cream the butter, sugar, brown sugar, and flavorings.
3 – Cream for 2- 3 minutes until combined.
4 – Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each.
5 – Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt – Add to the creamed mixture alternately with the buttermilk, starting and ending with the flour.
6 – After all the dry ingredients have been added, stop and scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl. Beat the batter for 30 seconds on medium-high until creamy. Divide between the pans.
7 -Place into the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
8 – Cook in the pan for 30 minutes until the sides release from the pan.
9 – Carefully remove from the pans and cool completely. Frost as desired.
