2 pints of shucked oysters
2 sleeves of saltine crackers, crushed
3 slices of white bread
1 onion, chopped
3 stalks of celery, diced
1 cup butter, melted, divided
2 eggs
Black pepper, to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Drain the oyster and reserve the juice or liquor (about ¼ cup).

Combine oyster liquor with melted butter.

Soften onions and celery, with some melted butter.

In a large bowl, mix crackers, bread, onions, celery, and 2 eggs. Season with black pepper, to taste.

In a greased casserole dish, layer the bread mixture, alternating with layers of oysters. Pour some oyster liquor and butter over the oyster layer. Finish the top layer with the bread mixture. Pour any remaining oyster liquor and butter over the top.

Bake for 30 minutes or until browned and the oysters are heated through.
