¼ c. shortening/butter
1½ c. boiling water
2 pkgs. yeast (+ ½ c. lukewarm water)
2 c. whole wheat flour
2 tsp. salt
1 egg
¼ c. molasses or honey
3 to 4 c. unbleached flour

Directions:
Directions:
In small container, add yeast with ½ c. lukewarm water; stir until dissolved. Put butter and boiling water in large mixing bowl. Stir in whole wheat flour, salt, egg, and molasses/honey. Stir in dissolved yeast. Gradually mix in 3 to 4 c. unbleached flour by hand.

Put dough on floured surface and knead until smooth and just a bit sticky. Place back in large bowl (well greased with oil). Let rise for 1 hr. Punch down the dough and let it rest for 10 min. Shape into two bread loaves or rolls. Let rise again until double in size. Bake at 375 degrees F for 45 min. (bread) or 20 to 30 min. (rolls).
