4 cups sifted flour
1 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
1 cup sour milk
2 eggs
1 cup hot water
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla

For the filling:
4 tablespoons milk
4 tablespoons flour
4 teaspoons vanilla
Beat together, then add:
2 cups confection sugar
1 ½ cups crisco
Beat well, add:
2 cups confection sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sifted flour, cocoa powder, and salt; set aside. Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Dissolve baking soda in hot water and alternate adding dry ingredients with hot water and sour milk. Mix well. Use a large cookie scoop to place on a prepared baking sheet. Bake at 400 F for 5 to 8 minutes. Do not over bake.
Assemble by putting filling on bottom side of one cookie and sandwiching it together with another.
