Hamburger Stroganoff Recipe

2 T butter
1 lb lean ground beef
8 oz sliced mushrooms
1 c sliced onions
1/2 t salt
2 T flour
24 oz chicken stock
1 c sour cream
1 lb egg noodles

Directions:
Directions:
Crumble and brown the hamburger until done; drain if fat shows. Add the butter, onions, mushrooms, and 2 cups of broth and cook till done. Mix the flour with the remaining broth and stir into the hamburger mixture to a boil until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in sour cream.

Most recipes have you cook the onions and mushrooms first, then the meat, and then combne. I didn't look up the recipe and did it this way and saved getting a dish dirty to hold the cooked mushrooms.
Not sure why it uses chicken stock rather than beef, but it tasted fine. A whole pound of noodles seems like a lot. But we have the stroganoff left over and it is better to reheat and then put on fresh cooked noodles.
