1 large red onion, wedged
12 oz. frozen Italian meatballs
24-26 oz. jar marinara sauce
1 tbsp. balsamic vinegar
12 cocktail buns, toasted
6 slices provolone cheese
4 roma tomatoes, sliced
½ tsp. crushed red pepper

Place onion wedges in a 4 quart slow-cooker. Top with frozen meatballs. In a medium bowl combine marinara sauce, vinegar, and crushed red pepper. Pour over meatballs. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 4-5 hours or on high-heat setting for 2-2 ½ hours. Gently stir meatballs and sauce. To serve, layer each bun bottom with a half slice of cheese and 2 tomato slices. Top each with 2 meatballs and some sauce, replace the top bun.
