Ingredients:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
3 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup whole milk, room temperature

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º
Cream the butter and sugar in a bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Whisk together the flour, baking powder and baking soda in another bowl. Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture in three additions, alternating with the milk and stirring until combined.
Pour the batter into a 9" cake pan that has been greased and floured. Bake the cake until it is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
All the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream.
