Ingredients:
Ingredients:
12 ounces linguine
12 ounces cherry or grape tomatoes, halved or quartered if large
1 onion, thinly sliced (about 2 cups)
4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 sprigs basil, plus torn leaves for garnish
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
4 ½ cups water
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Directions:
Directions:
In a large straight-sided skillet, bring together pasta, tomatoes, onion, garlic, red-pepper flakes, basil, oil, 2 teaspoons salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
Continue boiling the mixture while stirring and turning the pasta frequently with tongs. Cook until the pasta reaches an al dente texture, and the water has almost completely evaporated, typically taking around nine minutes.
Season the dish to your liking with salt and pepper. Divide the prepared mixture among four bowls and garnish with fresh basil. Serve alongside additional oil and Parmesan for added flavor.

Another great thing about this recipe is that, while it was created and tested using linguine and takes approximately nine minutes to cook, it can be substituted for another type of pasta with an equivalent cooking time.
