½ Large Head Red Cabbage (whole small cabbage)
1 Apple (Granny Smith or other tart variety), cut in half (horizontal)
⅓ C Apple Cider Vinegar
3 T Water
¼ C Brown Sugar
2 t Salt
¼ t Freshly Ground Black Pepper
4-5 Whole Cloves
2 T Butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cut the cabbage, shredding into thin ⅛"-¼" thick. Put half of the cut cabbage into a medium size heavy pot.

Grate half of the apple on top of the cabbage in the pot. Poke the whole cloves into the other half and add to the pot.

Add the remaining cabbage into the pot. In a small bowl addf vinegar, water sugar, salt and pepper. Stir to combine pour over cabbage.

Add the butter and cover with a heavy lid. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to simmer, and cook for 1½-2 hours.

Remove apple with cloves and discard. Stir mixture and serve.
