For the cookies:
1 cup butter (no substitutes), softened
1½ cups sugar
3 eggs
1 cup sour cream
2 tsp vanilla
3½ cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
For the frosting:
⅓ cup butter, softened
2 cups powdered sugar
2 to 3 TBSP milk
1½ tsp vanilla
¼ tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs. Add sour cream and vanilla; mix well. Combine flour, baking powder and baking soda; add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Chill dough at least 2 hours or overnight.
Roll on a heavily floured board to ¼" thickness. Cut with a 3" cookie cutter. Place on lightly greased baking sheets.
Bake at 350º for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookie springs back when lightly touched. Remove to wire racks to cool.
In a mixing bowl beat the frosting ingredients until smooth; spread over cookies.
