3 T Apple Cider Vinegar
1½ T Sugar substitute or sugar
3 T Water
1 Slice Bacon
2 small bunches [side salad] of fresh lettuce or leaf lettuce

Cut bacon into 1/2" x 1/2" squares, Place in a small frying pan
Over medium heat cook until soft done
Add remaining ingredients and stir
Quickly pour over bowls of lettuce, dividing evenly & wilting the lettuce

Mom [Ruth Gribbell] used to make this when we were young and had fresh lettuce from our garden. Believe she did not have a recipe, only "this is how my mom used to do it" As I remember, hers was not quite always the same. If you like the vinegar flavor, use a bit more.
