2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup butter
3 tbs. Baking powder
1/2 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Vanilla
1 cup milk


Directions:
Directions:
Mix eggs, vanilla, sugar, and butter in a mixing bowl. Beat 2 minutes. Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together. Add alternately the flour and milk to the egg mixture, beating well after each addition. When flour and milk are all incorporated into egg mixture; beat for 8 minutes longer. Pour into three nine-inch cake pans that have been greased well. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

2 egg whites
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/4 cup cold water
1 tbs. white corn syrup
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 quart pecans, ground

Directions:
Mix all ingredients, except pecans, together and cook on the top of a double boiler until the mixture forms a peak. Add ground pecans to the mixture. Spread between layers and on top of the cake.

This is a cake that grandmother’s aunt Ruby Tolar made every year at Christmas. It is a delicious cake and we all looked forward to having a piece of her wonderful cake.
