Ingredients:

1 tsp salt
1 ½ sticks butter, cold, cut into pieces
¾ c. vegetable shortening
1 Tab. distilled white vinegar
1 egg, slightly beaten
5 Tab. cold water

Directions:
Combine the flour, salt, shortening and butter, in a large bowl, using a pastry cutter, or 2 knives like my Mom did, until you have pea size pieces.
Beat egg, add with a fork, along with the vinegar and add cold water; I use ice water. Stir until it comes together, adding 1 tablespoon at a time, if needed.
Form mixture into 2 balls; place into plastic bags and place in freezer. Remove from freezer 30 minutes before use.
If you want to use right away, place in refrigerator for 20 minutes for gluten to relax.

Personal Notes:
My Mother always made great crust, consistently, I couldn't, but now I do!! I have never seen vinegar in a pie crust, but it’s a perfect addition, more flakiness!
