4 tablespoons butter
4 tablespoons flour
1⁄2 teaspoon salt
2cup milk
2 cups Cheddar cheese
3 cups diced ham
5 medium potatoes

Preheat oven to 350
Melt butter over low heat in sauce pan.Blend in flour and seasoning over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth and bubbly.Allow to cook for at least 1 minute to eliminate raw flour flavor.Remove from heat, SLOWLY add milk, stirring constantly to make a smooth paste; stir in remaining milk.Return to heat, stirring constantly.Bring to a boil again and keep stirring until thickened.If you want cheesy white sauce, add 1 cup shredded cheese .
Put a small amount of white sauce or butter bottom of pan.
Slice potatoes over bottom, then put ham over top cover with cheese then white sauce repeat. Remember to save enough white sauce for top. Cover and cook at 350 for 1 hour. Check to make sure potatoes are done if not put back in and keep checking every 15 minutes. Once potatoes are done take cover off and put cheese on top out back in until cheese is melted.
