Eric Baxter 12 of Calhoun won the state’s 22nd annual Elks Shoot at Stone Mountain. He later captured the Southeastern Reginald at Valdosta by sinking a perfect 25-25 tosses advancing to the national tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana (he also hit his 5 practice shots totaling 30-30). Afterwards the head of the Elks told Brian in the 22 years of doing Southeast Regionals Eric was the 1st to get a perfect score.

His younger brother Corey, 9, was one of only 24 youngsters who qualified for the state tourney.

The morning of the Hoop Shoot Eric woke up at the motel in Valdosta & said “Daddy, I’m going to win today.” Brian didn’t want to put any pressure on him so he said “I think you’ve got a good chance.” Then Eric said, “No Daddy, I’m going to win today.” Eric won, he never lacked for confidence

Nationals was held in Market Square Arena, home of the Indiana Pacers. Eric had his 1st airplane ride, got to visit the Indianapolis 500 race track & shot free throws where the NBA Indiana Pacers play. He was one excited boy.
