1 pound Mascarpone cheese (Italian cream cheese)
1 1/2 cup of expresso( 2 teaspoons of instant expresso)
3 packages of lady fingers
1 quart of heavy cream
3/4 cup of coffee liquor (to taste)
1 ounce semisweet chocolate squares
1 pint of fresh strawberries

Let the Mascarpone sit at room temperature. Beat until creamy. Add 1 quart of heavy cream. Beat until thick. Mix in liquor
Put prepared expresso in a square glass dish. Quickly dip each lady finger in expresso on each side, but do not saturate.
Coat the bottom of a 9” x 13” pan with some of the cream mixture. Top with alternate layers of lady fingers and cream mixture. Shave the chocolate square on top and chill for 2 hours until firm. Slice fresh fresh strawberries on top before cutting into squares to serve.

This recipe came to me from Phill Thomas who was one of the original Town Pipers with dad in Las Vegas. At one time before Las Vegas he was the social director at Fernwood in the 1950’s. He went on to be a writer for the Mike Douglas Show and Maud.
Tiramisu means “ pick me up” and is rumored to be a high energy dessert for the famous lover, Casanova, at the end of the 18th century!
