2 1/4 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp aniseed
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/2 cup butter (room temp)
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses
1 egg
Powdered sugar for dusting

Directions:
Directions:
Sift flour, salt, pepper, aniseed, cinnamon, baking soda, all spice, nutmeg, and cloves
Beat butter, brown sugar, molasses until fluffy (4 minutes)
Beat in egg
Beat in flour mixture
Refrigerate several hours
Bake at 350º for about 14 minutes
Shake in powder sugar
