1 c. brown sugar
3/4 c. butter
1 1/2 c. dry quick oatmeal
1/2 t. salt
1 1/2 c. flour
1 t. baking soda

FILLING:
1 pkg. dates
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. sugar
1 c. chopped nuts(optional)

cook till smooth!

Directions:

Mix everything as if for a pie crust. Pat one half mixture on a 8x8 buttered pan or a small cookie sheet with an edge. Press firmly and spread on filling. Cover with other half of oatmeal mixture and press down lightly.
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes. Cut into squares.
