8oz plain flour
4oz marg or butter
2 large cooking apples peeled and chopped roughly
A generous handful of blackberries or plums or any fruit - but if frozen defrost first
4 - 6 oz sugar

1.Choose a medium pie dish and cover the base with the fruit
2.Cover with sugar and stir round
3.Rub the fat into the flour to look like fine breadcrumbs either by hand or in a food mixer - but don't over blend.
4. Cover it with the fruit and press down gently
5. Put it on baking tray to avoid spillages in your oven
6. Cook on 200º for 45 minutes until browned on top and the fruit is showing through.

Use any fruit for this and no need to worry about exact amounts.
You can leave it uncooked for several days in the fridge if you want to get ahead.
Serve with cream or icecream.
