2 C flour
1 C sugar
1 egg, beaten
¾ C butter
1 C buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 8¼ oz can crushed pineapple, drained
½ C cut up dates
½ C raisins
½ C chopped walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour, sugar and salt.
Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Measure 1 cup of this and set aside.

To the remainder, add baking soda, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla.
Stir until well blended.
Add pineapple, dates, raisins, and nuts.

Spoon into greased 9 inch square pan.
Sprinkle with reserved flour/butter mixture.

Bake at 350º for 45 minutes or until done.

Serve warm.
