2½ pounds potatoes, peeled and cubed
4 slices bacon
½ small head cabbage, chopped
1 onion, chopped
½ cup milk
salt and pepper to taste
¼ cup butter, melted

Directions:
Directions:
Put potatoes in saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil. Cook until tender, 15 to 20 minutes.
Cook bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Drain, reserve drippings, crumble and set aside.
In drippings, saute cabbage and onion until soft and translucent, about 10 minutes. Drain potatoes, mash with milk . Add salt, pepper, bacon, cabbage and onions. Transfer to serving bowl. Make a well in center and pour in butter.
