1 ½ lbs. ground beef
½ C chopped onion
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (28 oz) can tomatoes, cut up
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1 (4 oz) can mushrooms, drained (optional)
2 t sugar
1 t dried basil, crushed
1 (7 oz) pkg. spaghetti, broken, cooked and drained
1-2 C shredded mozzarella cheese (4-8 oz)
⅓ C grated Parmesan cheese

Cook beef, onion and garlic until tender. Drain off excess fat. Stir in remaining ingredients; bring to a boil and simmer gently about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and mix with spaghetti. Place half of mixture into a 9x13 inch dish. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and some Parmesan. Top with remainder and sprinkle on Parmesan. Bake at 375º for 30 minutes.
