Ingredients: 700 grams McDougalls sponge mix 350 millilitres water

Directions:Preheat oven to GM5/375°F/190°C. 1. Place measured amount of water into mixing bowl. 2. Add sponge mix and blend on speed 1 for 1 minute. 3. Scrape down and mix for further 4 minutes on speed 3. 4. Place the sponge mix into a greased and lined flan tin and bake for 25 -35 minutes or until golden brown. 5. Allow to cool completely.
VARIATIONS: Add 1 of the following options after point 4, blend in for 1 minute. Chocolate: Add 35 grams cocoa powder and increase water by 50 millilitres per flan tin. Chocolate Orange: Add 35 grams cocoa powder, 50 millilitres orange juice and rind from one orange per flan tin. Orange Spiced: Add the rind and juice from one orange and 1 Tablespoon of cinnamon per flan tin. Lemon: Add the rind and juice of one lemon per flan tin. Optional 1 tablespoon. ginger per flan tin Ginger: Add 1 Tablespoon, ground ginger per flan tin. Sultana: Add 100 grams per flan tin. Optional, 1 teaspoon mixed spice. Cherry: Add 100 grams washed and chopped cherries per flan tin. Banana: Add 2 mashed bananas per flan tin. |
