225 grams self-raising flour
100 grams unsalted cold butter
100 grams caster sugar
1 medium free-range egg
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Jam for decorating (use any flavour you like)

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat the oven to 200C. Put greaseproof paper on to 2 baking trays.
2. Sift the 225 grams of flour into a large bowl. Add 100 grams of butter cubed
3. Rub the butter into the flour with your fingers, until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in 100 grams of sugar.
4. Break the egg in a small bowl, add 1 tablespoon of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla then mix.
5. Make a well in the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Stir to combine.
6. Make a ball from your mixture and cut in half. Continue cutting until you have 16 pieces of dough.
7. Shape each piece into a small ball, then flatten out slightly. Make a dent in each bun and fill with jam.
8. Bake the buns for 10 minutes until risen and golden brown. Leave to cool slightly before serving.
