1 Cup Plus 2 Tablespoons Butter (softened)
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 Cup Light Brown Sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
2 1/2 Cups Flour
6 Oz Chocolate Chips

Optional
1 Large Egg, Beaten
Demerara Sugar, for Rolling
Flaky Sea Salt, for Sprinkling

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º.

Beat butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla together. Stir in flour. Stir in chips.

Drop by tablespoon on cooking sheet, flatten with bottom of glass, sprinkle with sea salt.

Bake 15 minutes.

After making dough, divide in half. Pace each half on a large piece of plastic wrap. Form the dough into a log shape. Chill in plastic wrap for 2 hours (log should be 2-2 1/4" in diameter. Unwrap dough, brush with egg and roll in sugar. Cut log into 12 slices. Bake.
