2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. ground allspice
2 large eggs
1/2 cup butter, melted
1/2 tsp. grated lemon zest
1½ cups chopped almonds
1/2 cup chopped candied citron

Confectioners’ sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F.
Combine first seven ingredients.
In another bowl, combine eggs, butter and lemon peel.
Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
Fold in almonds and citron.

Shape into 1/2” balls and place 1” apart on greased baking sheets.
Bake until set, 8 to 10 minutes.
Roll warm cookies in confectioners’ sugar, cool on wire rack.

Store in an airtight container. Makes 6 dozen.
