2 3/4 c. Flour
1 t. Baking Soda
1/2 t. Baking Powder
1 1/2 t. Chai Spice Mix
1 c. Butter softened
1 1/2 c. Sugar
1 Egg
3/4 t. Vanilla Extract

Chai Mix
2 1/2 T. Cinnamon
2 1/2 T. Cardamom
2 T. Cloves
1 1/4 T. Allspice
1 1/4 T. Ginger
1 1/4 T. White Pepper (we used black and lived)
1/2 t. Salt

In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, cardamom, ginger, cloves and allspice. Set aside. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in dry ingredients. Scoop the dough into about 1-1/2" inch balls. In a small bowl, combine ingredients for the chai spice. Roll the dough balls in the chai spice and place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten the top of each cookie with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Refrigerate dough for 1 hour. Sprinkle the cookies with extra chai spice right before baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, remove just before the edges get brown. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before removing from sheet.

Sierra found this recipe during one of our baking adventures. When we first tried it we were all very skeptical, but the taste quickly grew on us and is definitely a favorite.
