Place in 9x13 pan or a large bowl in order as given.
1st layer - medium sized head of lettuce chopped real fine and placed in bottom of pan or bowl.
2nd layer - 1 c. celery chopped fine
3rd layer - 1 c. green pepper, cut fine
4th layer - 1/4 to 1/2 c. onion cut fine
5th layer - 1 c. sliced water chestnuts
6th layer - 1 box frozen peas (sprinkle on frozen)
7th layer - 1 c. mayonaise & 1 c. sour cream

Directions:

Combine the mayonaise and sour cream and mix until smooth. Gently spread over frozen peas to cover. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over the dressing. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and bacon bits. Chill a couple hours before serving, but do not prepare a day ahead of being served.
**NOTE: I often cut up all the vegetable the day before I need the salad, but keep each ingredient in its own zip-lock bag, then all you need to do is layer the ingredients as directed, and your done.
