1 1/2 lb beef flank steak, trimmed of fat
2 cups sliced onions
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup reduced-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp. quick cooking tapioca, crushed
1 Tbsp. grated fresh ginger
5 cloves minced garlic
2 green onions, sliced ( white and green portions seperated)
3 cups hot cooked rice

1. Cut meat into six portions. In a 3 1/2 or 4 qt slow cooker combine meat and sliced onions. In a medium bowl combine brown sugar, soy sauce, water, tapioca, ginger and garlic. Pour over the meat. Sprinkle with white portions of the green onions

2. Cover and cook on low 8 to 10 hrs or high 4 to 5 hrs. Remove meat reserving cooking liquid. Slice meat across the grain or coarsely shred: return to cooker. Serve over rice and sprinkle with green portions of green onions
