4 1/2 quarts cucumbers, young and tender make for a crisper pickle
2 large sweet onions
9 tablespoons dill seed
6 cups vinegar
6 cups sugar
3/8 cup salt
1 1/2 teaspoons celery seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons mustard seeds

Directions:
Directions:
Slice cucumbers and onions about quarter inch thick.

Put 1 tablespoon dill seeds and 2 or more slices of onion into each of 9 hot, sterilized pint jars. Fill jars with cucumber slices; shake jar to pack.

Make syrup by combining vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seeds and mustard seeds; heat to boiling. Pour over cucumber slices.

Put a slice of onion on top of each jar, wipe off jar rim with paper towel and seal.

Submerge jars in simmering water (180 to 200 degrees) for 10 minutes.
