1 1/2 c boiling water
1 c old fashioned oats
3 Tbsp shortening
2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp yeast
1 c warm water
1 tsp sugar
1/4 c brown sugar
1/4 c molasses
2 c whole wheat flour
2-3 c bread flour

Directions:
Directions:
Combine boiling water, oatmeal, shortening and salt. Cool to lukewarm. Add molasses and brown sugar.

In your mixer, dissolve 1 tsp sugar in 1 c warm water. Add yeast. When it’s bubbly add two cups of flour. Mix. Add oatmeal mixture and stir. Add the rest of the flour and mix until a soft dough forms. Place in a greased bowl and let rise until doubled. (About one hour)

Punch down dough, divide into 1/3 and shape into loaves. Let rise until doubled. (About 30-45 min) Bake at 375* for 5 minutes. Turn oven down to 350* and bake for 25 minutes longer.
