Peanut butter crust:
1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs
3 T. sugar
1/4 c. butter or margarine
1/4 c. peanut butter

Chocolater Cream Pie:1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
3 T. corn starch
3 c. milk
3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
1 T. butter
1 1/2 t. vanilla

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º
Crust:
Mix crumbs and sugar in bowl. Melt butter or margarine and peanut butter together and mix with crumbs. Press into 9 in. pie plate. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes. Cool.

Pie:
Mix sugar, cocoa and cornstarch in sauce pan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute.
Gradually stir about half of mixture slowly into beaten yolks, stirring constantly. Blend back into hot mixture in the pan. Boil for 1 more minute, again stirring constantly.
Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Put into cooled pie shell. You may add a meringue or use a whipped topping.

This recipe is in that old Betty Crocker cookbook. This pie became the Hamme family birthday pie and it still is. My granddaughter Jessica brings it for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
