Ingredients: Peanut butter crust: 1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs 3 T. sugar 1/4 c. butter or margarine 1/4 c. peanut butter
Chocolater Cream Pie:1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. cocoa 3 T. corn starch 3 c. milk 3 egg yolks, slightly beaten 1 T. butter 1 1/2 t. vanilla

Directions:Preheat oven to 350º Crust: Mix crumbs and sugar in bowl. Melt butter or margarine and peanut butter together and mix with crumbs. Press into 9 in. pie plate. Bake at 350º for 10 minutes. Cool.
Pie: Mix sugar, cocoa and cornstarch in sauce pan. Gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and boils. Boil for 1 minute. Gradually stir about half of mixture slowly into beaten yolks, stirring constantly. Blend back into hot mixture in the pan. Boil for 1 more minute, again stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add butter and vanilla. Put into cooled pie shell. You may add a meringue or use a whipped topping. |

Notes: This recipe is in that old Betty Crocker cookbook. This pie became the Hamme family birthday pie and it still is. My granddaughter Jessica brings it for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
