6 large Granny Smith Apples
3 Tbsp butter
1/3 C lemon Juice
1 Tbsp cornstarch
1/2 C white Sugar
1/2 C brown sugar
1 Tsp. salt
1 Tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 Tsp ground Nutmeg (optional)

Get all ingredients out and ready to go

-Peel, Core & cut apples in slices or pieces (your preference)
* the size of the apple slices will determine if the apple gets mushy or is firm after cooking... your preference!

-Squeeze 1/2 lemon over apples and set aside

-Mix the 1/4 C lemon juice with 1 Tbsp. corn starch in small bowl and set aside

-In large pan or cast iron skillet , melt 3 Tbsp butter over med./ low heat

- Cook the cut apples for approximately 5 minutes in the butter , pour the lemon juice & corn starch mixture over the apples and cook for 2 min longer . this will thicken the mixture

-Add white & brown sugar and salt to apples , stir until combined

-Remove from the heat and then add cinnamon & nutmeg

-Let the mixture cool completely to thicken .

Once cooled , use it in a recipe , store it in the fridge for 2-3 days in a mason jar or freeze it in ziploc bags layed out flat Yum!
