¾ Cup Sugar
1 Egg
¼ Tsp. Salt
½ Cup Milk
1 1/3 Cups Flour
2 Tsp. Baking Powder
½ Tsp. Vanilla

Cream the butter and add half the sugar gradually. Beat the egg with the remaining sugar. Combine mixtures. Mix and sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add alternately with milk to the first mixture. Add vanilla, and bake at 375 degrees for about 25 minutes in a 9-inch pan. Double the recipe for a 2 layer cake.
