12 eggs, separated
12 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 pound ground walnuts



Frosting filling:
1 cup coffee, cold
2 eggs,
1 cup milk
4 tablespoons cornstartch
3/4 pound sweet butter
6 tablespoons powdered sugar

Cake:
Beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; set aside. Beat egg yolks until lemon colored; gradually add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add flour, baking powder and nuts. then fold in egg whites. Place in four well-greased and floured nine-inch pans and bake in a 350º oven for about 20 minutes.

Frosting filling;
Beat coffee and eggs, then cook over low flame stirring constantly. Mix together milk and cornstarch and add to boiled coffee mixture. Cool. Beat butter and powdered sugar, add cooled coffee mixture and beat until mixture is the consistency of whipped cream. Spread between layers, on top and on the sides.
