1 1/2 cup dates, chopped
2 T butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cup hot water
2 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup choppped nuts
1 egg

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together dates, butter, sugar and salt. Pour hot water over and set aside to cool.
Sift together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. When the first mixture is cool, add egg, flour mixure, then vanilla nad nuts. Grease 2 loaf pans. Bake 1 hour 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
