¾ c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg
¼ c. molasses
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. salt
2 ¼ c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, brown sugar, egg, and molasses. Then add remaining dry ingredients. Mix until creamy and smooth. Chill for 2 hours.

Shape into balls. Dip in sugar on one side. Place on greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle each ball with a couple drops of cold water.

Bake at 350º 10-12 minutes.
