1 pound (or more) ground beef or chuck
1 large onion, chopped
7 or 8 large fresh mushrooms diced, or 1 small can, drained
4 ro 5 strips bacon
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
2 or 3 tbsp. sour cream
Salt and pepper to taste, plus MSG if desired

Cut bacon in 1-inch pieces and put in large skillet with mushrooms and onion. Cook until onions are tender. Add meat and spices, then cover. Cook 10 or 20 minutes. Remove cover and continue cooking until water boils away. When meat is browned, add soup and continue cooking over low heat for 10 or 15 minutes. Ladle out excess fat with large spoon. Add sour cream and cook for 4 to 5 minutes more. Serve warm over rolls, mashed potatoes, cooked noodles or fresh hamburger buns.
