1 cup butter, softened
1 tsp almond extract
1 cup powdered sugar
2 ¼ cup flour
2 to 3 tablespoon cherry juice (start with 2, 3 may make gloopy dough)
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup chopped maraschino cherries

Preheat oven to 350ºF
In a large bowl with mixer beat butter until smooth and creamy
Add almond extract and powdered sugar, blend
Start to incorporate flour, about half cup at a time, and blend together at low speed.
Mix in cherries and cherry juice
Stir in chocolate chips
Roll into 1 inch balls
Place on parchment lined baking sheets
Flatten to avoid thick centers - can use parchment paper or cup dipped in powdered sugar
Bake until lightly browned on bottom roughly 12 to 14 minutes, turning halfway thru

They look pretty as they end up pink
I found if too thick in center, they did not cook evenly.
Cookies do not spread.
