Ingredients:
Dough
2 cups of flour
1 stick of vegetable shortening
1 stick of butter
2 egg yolks
2 tbsp. white vinegar
¼ cup cold water

Filling
8 oz. cottage cheese drained
½ cup of sour cream
⅔ cup sugar
2 tbsp. flour
½ tsp. vanilla

Egg Wash

1 egg
2 tbsp. water

Directions:
Directions:
Dough: Cream butter and oil. Mix eggs, vinegar and water. Add to butter and mix until well incorporated. Mix in flour. Knead to create multiple layers.

Filling: Strain cottage cheese to remove as much water as possible. Blend all ingredients together.

Build Strudel: Roll out dough to ¼ inch thick. Fold over twice and roll out again to ¼ inch thick. Repeat three times. This will create layers in dough. Roll out dough one last time to ½ inch thick in a square, spread filling in middle, leaving a 1 inch border all around the outside. Roll dough with filling up like a log.

Egg Wash: Beat one egg and add water. Brush outside of strudel with egg wash.

Bake at 375 F until golden brown.
