1/2 c. shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. cocoa
1 c. chopped nuts

Directions:

Mix all ingredients. Chill one hour. Drop with teaspoon 2 inches apart onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 8 to 10 minutes. Cool and ice if desired.
