Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 lb. carrots, peeled and sliced
1/2 c. honey
1/3 c. frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
1 (8 oz.) pkg. pitted prunes
2 Tb. cornstarch, mixed with 1/4 c. water
Five-spice (fennel seeds, star anise, cloves, Chinese cinnamon, pepper)

Directions:
Directions:
Boil the carrots (in enough water to just cover) until tender but still crisp (about 10 minutes). Add the honey and orange juice. Stir and simmer about 15 minutes, or until thickened.

Add the prunes and simmer until the prunes are soft, about 20-30 minutes. Add the cornstarch water and stir until the mixture is thickened.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
I am not a big tzimmes fan, so I have only ever made this for Rosh Hashana. The spices in the Chinese Five-spice blend correspond to the five elements found in TCM. It has always seemed fitting, then, to bring that balance into the dish for the new year.
