Version 1:

1 qt. apple cider
3 pieces whole ginger
1 cinnamon stick (about 2" long)
1/2 tsp. whole allspice berries
1/4 tsp. whole cloves


Version 2:

2 qt. apple cider
4 cinnamon sticks
16 whole allspice berries
16 whole cloves
2 Tb. packed brown sugar
1 lemon, sliced
1 orange, sliced

Directions:
Directions:
Tie spices in a square of cheesecloth. Place in a saucepan along with the cider and heat until bubbly. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove spice bag and serve hot. Garnish each mug with a cinnamon stick, if desired.

Version 1 makes 1 qt. - about 4 (8 oz.) mugs
Version 2 makes 2 qt. - about 8 (8 oz.) mugs
