4 c. flour
1 c. sugar (or less)
1½ tsp. baking powder
1½ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. raisins (or to taste)
1-⅓ c. buttermilk (or more as needed)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Mix dry ingredients together, then add raisins and buttermilk. Form into a nice dough. Shape into a ball, then put it onto a floured board and knead for a few minutes. Form into a flat loaf and bake in cast iron skillet for 1 hour (if no cast iron skillet is available, a regular cake pan may be used. If using cake pan, bake 45 minutes uncovered and last 15 minutes covered with tin foil).

Let cool, and serve sliced with butter.
