2 c. flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cloves
1 tsp ground ginger
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 c sugar
1 egg, unbeaten
3/4 c shortening
4 T molasses

Directions:
Directions:
Combine first five ingredients. In a separate bowl, combine sugar, egg, shortening and molasses. Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Mix well. Roll into walnut-sized balls. Roll in a small bowl of extra sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet 350º for 10 minutes.
