1½ cups butter softened (3 sticks)
3 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
5 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 325
2. Prep bundt pan by greasing with butter and sprinkling with a light layer of sugar
3. Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl for five minutes. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
4. Combine flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder; add alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture, beating just until blended. Pour batter into prepared bundt pan.
5. Bake at 325 for 1 hour and 20 minutes
6. Remove from oven and cool for 20. minutes, then removed from pan
7. Cool completely before frosting or sprinkling with confectioners' sugar.

**NOTE: to make a buttermilk substitute add 1 tbsp, vinegar to a measuring cup, add milk until it reaches the 1 cup mark. Let stand for 5 minutes, and use as buttermilk!
